ANALYSIS OF A RURAL LANDSCAPE

 A rural landscape is the type of landscape that combines anthropic, biotic and abiotic elements.

First, I am going to talk about  physical factors. The picture shows a relief characterized by a plain inland landscape with some hills in the background. There are two vegetation types: vegetation grasslands and deciduous forest. We can see some trees that could be hazelnuts, birches or elms, but we can not see any river or source of water. According to these information, the climate of this location could be a Oceanic or Atlantic one. If it is true, the precipitations would be abundant and regulars and regarding to  temperatures they would be cool during summers and mild in winters.

In the second  place, we can talk about the arable land. As we can see in this photo, the plots are irregular and small and their boundaries have been made with bushes so we can say that they are enclosed fields.

To continue, we are going to talk about cultivation systems. In this area the irrigation system is dry farming and there are extensive lands in which you can grow different types of crops such us lucerne, colza, oat or hay (monoculture). All this things are posible thanks to the abundat precipitations.

 On the other hand we can analyze organization of settlements. As we can see, houses are  made of stone and have a gable roof of tiles and they are dispersed, without following a pattern. Each one is communicated with a small path. As a conclusion we can say that this place has a scattered pattern of the settlement.

We can say, regarding  to lands and its uses and activities, that the use of the land is agricultural natural pastures used for grazing and for hay or even to rise livestock. They can be also used to build hostels or secundary houses for people who live in the cities.

 Finally we are going to mention some of the problems of living in a rural area. In this areas the access to basic services like health care or education is too difficult beacause people have to drive to other places to go to school or even to the doctor. It is not easy to comunicate with others if there is a lack od infrastructures such us roads, even more when  the coverage and the Internet connection is not good. Focusing on the demographic challenges as the ageing population and increasing depopulation, if we solve these problems more people would move to the rural areas and it would be profitable to give them access to the service and also if people moved to the rural areas more work would be created. I think that if we want to resolve this problems we should built hospitals and schools in areas everybody can use them.
